WHAT DO WE MEAN BY A WRITE-OFF?
DEI training is a legitimate business expense. If the training is designed to enhance the company's workplace culture, improve employee productivity, or reduce potential liabilities (such as discrimination claims), it can qualify as a deductible expense.
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) allows self-employed individuals to deduct business expenses that are incurred for the purpose of earning income. DEI training can qualify if it helps improve the self-employed person’s business practices, interactions with clients, or understanding of diverse markets.
Want to Write Us Off yourself? In Canada, individuals can claim a tax credit for charitable donations made to eligible charities (such as the Jane/Finch Centre). This tax credit helps reduce the amount of tax you owe based on the donations you make.
